Kameran Hayward

Kameran Hayward had a huge matchup on Friday (9/6) defensively. For most of the game he was matched up against Grosse Pointe North’s top receiver Leo Perettie. Hayward was able to hold his own for most of the night. He finished the game with a couple of key tackles, one interception, and three deflections. His route recognition in zone coverage stood out from the beginning of the game. On the third play of the game, he made a big deflection. He noticed the QB’s eyes and bailed to give help to the safety. He was also able to get his interception from play recognition. With all of the great plays he did make on defense, he did struggle in coverage against Perettie at times. Perettie was able to “stack” Hayward a few times throughout the game. Which lead to some balls he was beat on, that weren’t able to get delivered to the receiver.
